The Palladian villa of Stourhead House, built and modified by generations of the Hoare family, is the centre piece of the world famous landscape garden. Held within its walls are significant collections of furniture, designed by Chippendale the Younger, and paintings collected by Henry Hoare I and Richard Colt Hoare on their Grand Tours. Of the many people in Stourhead’s history, one man overcame grief to create this living work of art.
