Llanerchaeron is a traditional rural estate that has been in the same family for ten generations. The villa was designed by the Regency architect John Nash in c1785. The home of a family of gentrified farmers, the Llanerchaeron estate was in the forefront of local agriculture and was always very much part of the local community. In the 20th century, hunting and fishing were central to life on the estate and the indigenous collection reflects the passions and interests of the family. Llanerchaeron also houses two fascinating non-indigenous collections, the Geler Jones and the P.M. Ward collections. The Geler Jones collection is an eclectic mix of agricultural tools and machinery, horse drawn vehicles and domestic objects amassed by a local saddler and donated to the National Trust. The P.M. Ward collection is vast and comprises of approximately 5000 objects both from Miss Ward’s personal collection and stock from her antique shop in Kensington.
