This small, 3-storey Tudor house, with its gables and granite exterior, was extended in 1634 and again in the mid-18th century. Derelict and uninhabited for fifteen years, the house and estate were bought in 1938 and restored by the daughters of a Nottingham architect, Eileen, Lorna and Honora Keating. The interior contains exposed stonework and plain plastered walls with good woodwork. Plas-yn-Rhiw was given to the Trust, together with over 400 acres of coastline, between 1950 and 1966.
A collection of furniture, clothing, china and other items from the 1930s owned by the three Keating sisters who bought the property in 1938; also a collection of gentle watercolours recording local views painted by one of the sisters, Honora.
