Sizergh Castle houses a hugely important collection of extremely rare carved oak furniture from the Elizabethan period. It also contains richly carved overmantels and houses the magnificent Inlaid Chamber, the panelling of which is among the finest ever made for an English country house. 18th-century furniture includes early pieces of Gillows furniture, including a highly important set of seat furniture commissioned by Charles Strickland from the Lancaster furniture company. An important collection of portraits of members of the exiled Stuart court hang side by side with family likenesses from every generation.It also houses a collection of mostly English armour of the 16th and 17th centuries.
