The former home of British author Rudyard Kipling with a comprehensive collection of his family’s personal belongings. Bateman’s houses a diverse collection of 17th and 18th century furniture as well as furniture contemporary to Kipling. This includes the inner sanctuary of his study where he wrote some of his most famous works. In the study can be seen the desk at which he wrote and Kipling's extensive library. The Kipling collection also includes eminent works of art by individuals such as Poynter, Collier, Burne-Jones and Whistler, the author's Nobel Prize, the Visitors' Book and the family’s Rolls Royce. Also on site is industrial heritage with Kipling’s installed generator and a working flour mill.
