Summary
Oil painting on panel, Landscape with Adam and Eve, attributed to Jacob Bouttats (Antwerp, before 1660 - c. 1700), previously catalogued as by Paul Bril (Antwerp 1554 – Rome 1626) and Hendrick van Balen (Antwerp 1575 – Antwerp 1632). This picture was attributed to two Flemish artists, but since Bril (a famous landscape painter) worked most of his life in Rome it was not certain that these two collaborated on this work. Van Balen regularly worked with other artists, including Jan Brueghel, adding figures to landscapes and flower pieces.
