Guandi is the deified form of Guan Yu, a bean curd peddler and popular hero who is said to have lived in third-century China.
Summary
Porcelain figure, Chinese, Kangxi period (1662-1722). Representing a seated Guandi, god of war and protector against demons, his right hand raised, decorated with turquoise, green, blue, black and yellow enamels and gilding on the biscuit (or unglazed surface), probably made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China.
