Caption
Elizabeth Leighton was the first wife of Sharington I Talbot (1577 – 1642). Although this was probably painted by the same artist as the portrait of her husband, it is debatable as to whether they were intended as companion pieces. However, stylistically and size-wise, they are concordant with each other. The sitter is identified by an inscription on the frame
