Summary
A walnut, ebony, tortoiseshell, marquetry inlaid and gilt brass mounted breakfront cabinet on a stand. The cabinet Italian, late 17th century with alterations, the stand possibly English or Dutch, late 17th century, later painted. Fitted with six drawers, the drawer panels inlaid with floral marquetry and with faux tortoiseshell bandings, recessed mirror panelled centre enclosed by a panelled door flanked by twist columns with ormolu capitals. The carved deal stand later painted over the original gilding, with six legs carved with griffin heads and floral scrolls joined by a pierced carved apron incorporating putti and flower heads. The two parts associated.

Purchased by the National Trust with the family collection of Lacock Abbey contents in situ from Mrs. Petronella Burnett-Brown in December 2009.
