Provenance
Charles Winn acquired a number of sea pictures, supposedly by the French artist Claude Lorrain, including ‘a small sea piece said to be by Claude’ from the auctioneer, Mr Acton of York, in September 1848, for £5-10-0; thence by descent until purchased by the National Trust by private treaty sale from Lord St Oswald in 2010
