Oil painting on canvas, The Residenzschloss, Dresden, German School, 1671 (the pendant is inscribed with the date). A military procession outside a palace, possibly the Schloss at Dresden, with a facade decorated with trompe l'oeil reliefs, men marching in the left foreground, and figures on horseback to the right.
Provenance
This painting and its pendant (NT 959411) of military processions were acquired by John Winn whilst on the Grand Tour, circa 1817. After John's untimely death in 1817, they were temporarily stored in the Top Hall, where they are listed as '2 Paintings Palace & Review' in the 1818 inventory;
