Summary
Portrait miniature, enamel, The Hon. William Booth Grey (1773-1852) as a Child. by Patrick John McMorland (Scotland 1741-after 1809). 1781. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a child, turned slightly to the right, wearing a yellow coat and frilled shirt. He has brown eyes and dark hair and wears a serious expression and is aged about 8. Signed lower right 'PMc' and engraved on the reverse 'Honble. Wm. B. Grey'. Richard Walker: the enamel bracelet was a favourite medium for McMorland, and the oval mourning stone suggests that the identification with William Booth Grey may be mistaken.
