Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Called Griffith Rice (1670-1729), attributed to Charles d'Agar (Paris 1669 – London 1723), circa 1695/1700. A three-quarter-length portrait of possibly Griffith Rice or a member of the Talbot family. He wears a loose robe, long wig, neckcloth, leaning on a parapet with his right arm and his left hand on his hip. A classical colonnade with an entabulature and balustrade can be seen behind him, in the background on the left.

Recorded by Joseph Gulston at Newton House, circa 1784, in the Eating Room, as: A5; thereafter by descent, until acquired by the National Trust from Richard, 9th Baron Dynevor (1935 – 2008), with the aid of the NHMF in 1997
