Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Miss Lindfield, circle of Thomas Bardwell (East Anglia 1704 – Norwich 1767), 18th century. A painted oval half-length portrait of a young woman, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, her hair dressed with flowers, wearing a in blue decollete dress with with lace frills at the neckline and sleeves. She has a pink shawl draped over her right arm. Only daughter of Major Lindfield.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust with Sheringham, with grants from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, the Countryside Commission, the National Conservancy Council, and several bequests, in 1987
