Summary
Close helmet, English c.1650-1700; skull of two halves, roped comb pierced with hole at top; visor, upper beaver and under beaver all pivot at ears, held with two spring-catches at right; upper edge of upper beaver roped; traces of etched or gilt decoration of trailing foliage; neck-guard of two plates. The hole in the comb suggests this helmet may have come from a church where the hole would have held a funerary plume.
