Oil painting on canvas, Classical Landscape with Figures by Andrea Locatelli (Rome 1695 – Rome 1741?), previously attributed to Jan Frans van Bloemen, called Orizzonte (Antwerp 1662 – Rome 1749). Peasant girls are seen at a fountain in the foreground with stone pines behind.
Provenance
Acquired by Henry Hoare II, the ‘Magnificent’ (1705 – 1785); given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
