Oil painting on canvas, A Wooded Landscape with Peasants and Herd resting under Trees near a Monument, Italo-Flemish School, circa 1700. Tall trees take up the foreground and a group of herdsmen and their cattle rest below them. A hilly forested landscape extends beyond into the distance on the right.
Provenance
Probably acquired by Henry Hoare II (1705-85); given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946.
