Summary
Two cups, hard paste porcelain painted in enamels and gilded, manufactured at Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory (established 1756), painted by Jean-Nicolas Le Bel (1749-1816) ('le jeune'), Sèvres, France, circa 1786, from a tea service comprising: a covered sugar bowl, a milk jug, three cups and three saucers. Decorated with bands of buds between spotted blue borders and cartouches containing roses and cornflowers, with a lower decorative band. Each piece marked with interlaced Ls, some enclosing 'ii' and some 'jj', both for 1786, some initialled 'LB' for Le Bel le jeune.
