Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Los borrachos (The Triumph of Bacchus), after Diego Velázquez (Seville 1599 - Madrid 1660). Bacchus with a group of peasants, crowning one of them. Variously also called: The Drunkards, The Topers, The Drunks, Bacchus crowning a Drunk, the original painting of between 1627 - 1628 (painted after the artist arrived in Madrid from Seville but before he went to Venice) and 1629 is now in the Prado, Madrid. Another copy is at Southampton Art Gallery (75).
