Summary
Chinese mirror painting, circa 1760-1770, depicting a man and a woman seated in a garden on the edge of a lake or waterway, she playing a pipa (Chinese lute), a child nearby, with various buildings visible in the distance. The painting is similar in style and composition to the other Chinese mirror painting at Dyrham Park (NT 458429, which, however, has a different provenance) and to a mirror painting in the Child collection at Osterley Park (NT 771801). In a gilded rococo frame.
