Provenance
Probably acquired by 8th Marquess of Lothian (1832 -1870) from the restorer and almost exclusive supplier to the British of such items, William Blundell Spence (1814-1900); bequeathed with the hall and contents to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940).
