Summary
Pair of tiered and segmented flower vases, tin-glazed earthenware, of square section and pyramidal silhouette, with serpent-shaped spouts at the corners, made in Delft, Dutch Republic, with 'AK' mark in underglaze blue on the top of the base for Adrianus Kocx (active 1686–1701), the proprietor of the Grieksche A (Greek A) factory, 1690-1700, decorated in underglaze blue and white with European baroque and Chinese-inspired motifs.
Full description
A pair of similar pyramidal flower vases by the Grieksche A factory is at Dyrham Park, inv. nos. NT 452205 and NT 452206. The top section of a similar pyramidal flower vase is at Belton House, inv. no. NT 254216. A pair of similar pyramidal vases by the Grieksche A factory is in the British Royal Collection, inv. no. RCIN 1085. Another such vase, partially preserved, has inv. no. RCIN 1202. A similar pyramidal flower vase by the Greek A factory is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, inv. no. C.615-1925.
