Summary
Oak tester bedstead,'four-poster', late 17th century. The four turned tapering posts on ring-turned peg feet rise to support a simple framework from which hang the crewel work valence and curtains. The low headboard ('dorsa') of three panels is held in slots between the head posts. No canopy (tester). Crewelwork Jacobean hangings comprising 1 long valance, 2 curtains (approx. 4'6' wide) and 1 curtain (approx. 5' wide). See W.F.138.
