Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Wooded Landscape by Jan Hackaert (Amsterdam 1628 – Amsterdam 1685), inscribed, bottom right: HACKAERT. A road passes through a wood, along which a shepherd and sheep are disappearing; a horseman and his dog emerge from the wood in the foreground, having forded a stream which flows into a pond at the left, where a sportsman is kneeling and firing; a traveller rests beside the track in the foreground. The figures could be by another hand like Adriaen van de Velde.
