Summary
A silver-gilt spoon decorated with cloisonne inlay of blue, red and white. Marked 'F.W.C.L.'o., ..., T.D.' Cloisonné is an ancient technique of decorative enameling where an object, typically made of copper, has decorative areas (cloisons in French, hence cloisonné) delineated by fine silver or gold wires into which enamel paste is applied before the object is fired and polished.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
