Summary
Thirty hour English hooded wall clock in oak case, by John Smith, Lynn. Roman numerals on white enamelled circle. Single, steel hand. Etched brass surround. Triangular white enamelled insert above with name engraved. Internal pendulum. Single iron weight on brass pulley and weighted cord to raise weight. Wooden hood with carved finial.
Full description
Small 30 hour striking wall clock in an oak case. Dial engraved ‘Jn Smith, LYNN’. C1750. Fineal on top of case. Verge escapement and bob pendulum. Locking plate hour striking on bell. Single steel hour hand. Weight 7½ lb (made up of 3 bits).
Provenance
purchased in Oulton, Norfolk. Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
