Summary
Thirty hour English hooded wall clock in oak case, by John Smith, Lynn, c1750. Two train, four pillar movement with verge escapement and bob pendulum and locking plate striking on bell. Brass break arch dial with engraved spandrels, wheatear border and silvered brass makers name plate in arch signed: "Jn. o Smith, Lynn". Silvered brass chapter ring with Roman numerals. Single steel hour hand. Engraved brass dial centre. Plain oak, inverted bell top case with bracket supports. Apertures at sides for bell. 'English 30-hour, hour striking hooded wall clock in oak case, by John Smith, Lynn, c.1740. Bought in Oulton, Norfolk. (98)' (M Jessups)
