Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), Great Aunt Jane Parminter (d. 1776) of Bellaire, near Barnstaple, style of Mary Beale (Barrow 1633 – London 1699), previously catalogued manner of Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), late 17th to early 18th century. A half-length portrait of Jane Parminter, who faces front and looks out at the spectator against a light brown background. Her brown hair is arranged high on her head and with a portion loose behind her. She wears a dark gold gown pinned on her right shoulder with a four-stoned brooch and with a white chemise underneath which has a frilled neckline. There is also a piece of newspaper found in the frame from Reading (in the archive boxes in the store) Daughter of Richard Parminter (d. 1761) and Jane Lavington (1685 - 1761)
