Summary
Oil painting on canvas, King Charles II, King of Spain (1661-1700) as a Child after Juan Carreño de Miranda (Avilés 1614 - Madrid 1685) . Three-quarter-length figure of a young boy, turned slightly to the right, seen almost full face. He is dressed in black and wears his long, fair hair loose. His right hand hangs down and has a turned-back, white lace cuff at the wrist. He wears the Order of the Golden Fleece hanging from a heavy gold chain around his neck. The royal crown and sceptre are laid on the table by his left shoulder. The dark background is relieved by a draped, crimson curtain, on the right. White number l.r. '51'.
