Summary
Marble sculpture, Emperor Titus, Emperor of Rome (39-81 AD), circa Roman 200 AD with 18th century head. Statue of a man wearing a tunic and cloak, holding a scroll, the torso was produced in Italy in around AD 200 and the head is probably 18th century, a copy from portraits of the Emperor Titus. The resemblance to Clive of India is probably accidental.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury on 21st March, 1963 in lieu of tax and conveyed to National Trust ownership on 29th November 1963.
