Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Mountain River Landscape with Fisherman carrying a Large Net, in the manner of Herman van Swanevelt (Woerden c.1600 - Paris 1665). A landscape view, bounded by trees to left and right; a path with a fisherman carrying a large net advancing to the right in the foreground, and a woman standing with a pot on her head, with another kneeling to fetch water beside her; a river zig-zagging towards distant mountains.
Provenance
Recorded in the Wardrobe in 1769; bought with part of the contents of Kedleston with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund in 1987 when the house and park were given to the National Trust by Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000)
