Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Landscape with Ruined Buildings and Figures by Jan Griffier the elder (Amsterdam c.1645 – London 1718). It is the presence of this picture at Kedleston, very possibly taken over from the previous house, that lends some colour to the idea that Griffier might also have painted the view of Old Kedleston Hall (KED/P/196).
Provenance
Recorded in the Library in 1769; and thence by descent until bought with part of the contents of Kedleston with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund in 1987 when the house and park were given to the National Trust by Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000)
