Oil painting on canvas, A Seaport with Men-o'-War, Boats and Figures by Adriaen van Diest (c.1656 - 1704), signed in black , on rock , bottom centre: A V Diest [AVD in monogram], circa 1672 - 1704. Seascape depicting a seaport with Men-o'-War boats and figures. Probably originally the pendant – in the previous house – of KED/P/197 (Music Room).
Provenance
Recorded in Kedleston in 1766 (but possibly from old house); and thence by descent; bought with part of the contents of Kedleston Hall with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) in 1986 when the house and park were given to the National Trust by Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000)
