Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Marmaduke Dalton (1655–80), manner of Jacob Huysmans (Antwerp c.1630 – London 1696), circa 1677. Sir Marmaduke Dalton of Hauxwell, shoulder length portrait, in oval trompe-l'oeil frame with carved fruit; the sitter wears a slate blue cloak with gold fringe. Sir M. Dalton was first husband of the Hon.Barbara Bellasis. Of Hauxwell, Yorkshire, he was the second husband of Barbara Bellasis, the second wife of Sir Robert Strickland’s second son,Walter. Probably painted around the time of their marriage in 1677.
