Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Anne Salvin, Mrs Walter Strickland (d. 1731) by Michael Dahl (Stockholm 1656/9 – London 1743), late 17th century. A half-length oval framed portrait in pink dress with red cloak. Anne Salvin d.1734 daughter of Gerald Salvin of co. Durham, wife of Walter Strickland of Sizergh. (1675-1715). Youngest daughter of Jarrard Salvin of Croxdale, Co. Durham (from a branch of which family the Victorian architect Anthony Salvin was later to spring) and Mary, daughter of Ralph Clavering of Callaly Castle, Northumberland. She was married to Walter Strickland of Sizergh in 1700, and bore him the progenitors of the senior and the junior lines,Thomas Peter and Jarrard.
