Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Alice Strickland, Lady Blount (1648-1680), manner of Jacob Huysmans (Antwerp c.1630 – London 1696), late 17th century. The same sitter as SIZ.P.23 but older and married, in blue and gold dress, hold a sprig of flowers and seated in an interior with drapery behind her on the right and a landscape beyond on the left. On back of painting 'Alice Strickland, daughter of Sir Thomas Strickland of Sizergh, Westmorland'. Wife to Sir Walter Kirkham Blount. The elder surviving daughter of Sir Thomas Strickland’s first marriage, to Jane Mosely, Lady Dawney. She was married in 1670 to Sir Walter Kirkham Blount, 3rd Bt (d.1717), of Sodington and Mawley,Worcestershire. They had two sons, both of whom died in infancy.
