Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Landscape with Distant View of Sizergh Castle from the South, thought to be after James Atkinson (active late 18th century - circa 1835). It may be a copy from a sepia photograph of the original overmantel. This picture is rather curiously executed in brown monochrome, apparently to harmonise with the antiquarian air of the panelling when it was inserted as an overmantel into the adapted chimneypiece. The artist is unknown, but was clearly provincial.
