The Entrance Hall at Lacock was created in 1754 – 5 for John Ivory Talbot (?1691 – 1772). The architect, Sanderson Miller (a portrait of whom is at Lacock) created a room in the Gothick style, with a large chimneypiece and a barrel ceiling painted with the coats of arms of Talbot’s friends. The niches on the wall were filled with terracotta figures by an Austrian, or South German sculptor, Victor Alexander Sederbach. They were produced at Lacock between May 1755 and January 1756. Curiously, no other work by this sculptor is known. Lord Methuen studied under Walter Sickert, and was a Trustee of the National Gallery and the Tate. He had inherited Corsham Court, not far from Lacock, which he leased to the Bath Academy of Arts.
