Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A View of Arlington Court and St James's Church Tower from the Park by Maria Pixell (fl. 1793 -1811), Maria Pixell Pinxt / 1797. One of three views of Arlington Court by the same artist. A distant view of the old house and church tower from an elevated position within the park. The three-storey white stone building is positioned at the top of an incline with the tower of St James' Church visible to the left. The foreground parkland is dotted with oak and fir trees which envelop the house and church on both sides. The hazy contours of distant mountains can be seen beyond and above a blue sky is dotted with grey-white cloud. The old house was demolished by 1820.
