Provenance
The inventory of furniture & effects from Switzerland, 1781, includes a small 'Picture of Monkies' (NP C4/1/8B) & the inventories of 1806 and 1818 include ‘Monkeys regaling’, which was recorded in the ‘Picture Gallery’ in 1806; purchased by the National Trust by private treaty sale from Lord St Oswald in 2010
