This painting is first mentioned in the 1769 inventory at Dunham Massey. Stranover was a pupil of Bogdani, who also specialised in still life painting.
Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Still Life with a Basket of Fruit and Flowers, attributed to Tobias Stranovius (Nagy-Szeben 1684 - England after 1731). An overturned basket of fruit and flowers, (peaches, cherries, melon, roses, etc.) is spilling its contents over a stone ledge; an artificial composition with a gold brocade curtain at the right and s distant horizon with a stormy sky to the left.

Recorded in 1769 inventory; bequeathed to the National Trust with the house, estate and all the contents of Dunham Massey by Roger Grey, 10th Earl of Stamford (1896 - 1976)
