Caption
The sitter was the third son of Henry Booth, 2nd Baron Delamere & 1st Earl of Warrington (1652-1694), and Mary Langham, daughter of Sir James Langham. He was a younger brother of George Booth, 2nd Earl of Warrington (1675-1758). A copy of this portrait is at another National Trust house, Lanhydrock, to which a number of Booth portraits went through the marriage of the sitter’s sister to the Hon. Russell Robartes.
Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Hon. Henry Booth (1687-1726) by Matthew Ashton (fl.1718 - 1728), 1710-20. A painted oval half-length portrait of a man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a green velvet coat and white cravat/jabot, pale brown curled, shoulder-length wig with a centre parting. A younger brother of the 2nd Earl of Warrington.
