Summary
Oil painting on panel, Called Sir Thomas Cordell, circle of Marcus Gheeraerdts, the younger (Bruges 1561 - London 1635). Three-quarter-length portrait of a mature man, standing, wearing black fur-lined robes, holding gloves with a skull on a table beside him. Inscribed top left 'Sr Thomas Cordell of London Merchant Son of the above mentioned Robert' and charged top right with the sitter's coat-of-arms.
Provenance
From the Hyde Parker collection. Loaned to the National Trust in 1997, and purchased from Sir Richard Hyde Parker and Lord and Lady Camoys, in October 1997.
