Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Acland 1st Baronet Acland of Columb-John (c.1591-1647) by Robert Walker (c.1600- London c.1659), inscribed by a later hand lower left: Sir John Acland Bart /1644. A portrait of a young man, three-quarter length, facing, head turned to the right and gazing to the right. He wears a pale brown curled wig, possibly his own hair. His left hand, fingers spread, holding his black cloak to his chest. He is wearing a black gown covered with a black cloak, white linen collar, and white shirt. On the left is a plinth, and on the right a long red drape. Son of Sir Arthur Acland (1570-1610) and Eleanor Mallet (1573-1608); married Elizabeth Vincent (d. c.1650).
