Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Henry Hoare of Mitcham Grove, Surrey (1750 - 1820) [or Henry Hoare of Beckenham (1744-1785)] by Thomas Beach (Milton Abbas 1738 – Dorchester 1806), 1806. A half-length portrait of father of Lydia Elizabeth Hoare, Lady Acland (1786-1856), the wife of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, 10th Bt (1787-1871), as a florid plump man, in a painted oval, facing, head turned slightly to the right, gazing to the right. He has on a grey powdered wig and is wearing a brown coat and waistcoat and simple white stock. See Stourhead William Hoare of Bath pastel NT 730774 for possible re-identification of sitter.

By descent throught the sitter's daughter, Lydia, wife of Sir Thmas Dyke Acland, 10th Bt; until accepted in lieu by HM Government and transferred to the National Trust in 1995
