Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Henry Hoare of Beckenham (1744-1785), by Thomas Beach (Milton Abbas 1738 – Dorchester 1806), c. 1770-5. A half-length portrait of a plump man wearing a grey powdered wig, brown coat and waistcoat and white stock, facing, head turned slightly to the right, within a painted oval. Inscribed in pen and ink on reverse: 'Henry, 2nd Son of Sir Richard / Hoare Knt. Half Brother to / the first Baronet. 06. 85'. See also NT 730774.
