Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Cicely Caryll, Lady Morley (b. 1572), but possibly really Mary Heath, Lady Morley, English School, previously catalogued as manner of Cornelius Janssen van Ceulen or Cornelius Johnson (1593-1661), inscribed lower left (in house style): Lady Morley, Wife of Sr. John/1631. A portrait of a middle-aged woman, half-length, turned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator. She has brown hair, pulled back at the forehead and falls in ringlets on the sides of her face, her hair is dressed with a jewelled headband and she wears matching jewelled earrings and a pearl necklet. She is wearing a brown silk/satin décolleté dress with full sleeves and blue shawl draped over her right shoulder. Brown background. 2nd wife of Sir John Morley. (Paired with that of Sir John Morley).
