Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Ann Daniel, Lady Acland (1654-1728) by British (English) School, 1690. Formerly attributed to William Gandy (c.1660-1729). An oval painted portrait of the daughter of Sir Thomas Daniel and wife of Sir Hugh Acland, 5th Bt.(c.1629-1714) as a young woman, facing, gazing at the spectator in a painted stone oval. She has brown curled hair with a ringlet falling down her right shoulder and blue eyes. She wears a pearl necklet and an orange silk décolleté dress caught up with loops of pearls and a white shift. Dark background.
Provenance
On loan to the National Trust at Killerton since 19--; acquired by the National Trust as acceptance in lieu 1995, as attributed to William Gandy.
