Summary
Gobelins Tapestry, late 17th century. Title: ‘Portiere du la Char Triomphe’ Designed by Charles Le Brun and woven at the Gobelins factory. It is a portiere designed to hang in a doorway. The tapestry depicts a triumphal chariot decorated with the arms and attributes of Louis XIV.
Provenance
This item forms part of the original Drewe family collection at Castle Drogo. It was transferred to the National Trust in 1983. This was made possible with a grant from the V&A Purchase Grant Fund and the Royal Oak Foundation.
