Summary
Black leather presentation box with gold border to lid and metal hinges and catch. Blue silk lining to lid and blue velvet lining to base. Purpose built to contain ceremonial trowel with silver hallmarked blade and stem and a decorated ivory handle. Blade is ornately etched around an inscription (LAN.S.273)

A gift from the Hon. Gerald Agar-Robartes, 7th Viscount Clifden, who gave Lanhydrock to the National Trust in 1953.
