Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Hunt III (1721 - 1788) by Arthur Devis (Preston 1712 – London 1787), inscribed on stretcher, T. Hunt, Mollington. A full-length portrait of the younger son of Mary Vere Robartes and Thomas Hunt II as a young man, standing, leaning with his left arm against a chair, his legs crossed. He wears a brown coat, a fur trimmed waistcoat, white stock, cuffs and hose. Behind him on the right is a spinet. Inscribed on stretcher, T. Hunt, Mollington.
Provenance
By descent, through the marriage of the sitter's daughter, Anna Maria Hunt, with Charles Bagenal-Agar, until given by Gerald, 7th Viscount Clifden (1883 -1966), with the transfer of the house to the National Trust in 1953
